Welcome to Benihana Monterey!

From the moment you walk through our doors near Monterey's famous Fisherman's Wharf you will be welcomed into an elegant Japanese setting with warm smiles and delicious food.  Our family-owned franchise restaurant opened in April of 2009.  We've remodeled the original location, have a beautiful sushi lounge with a full bar, and sleek teppan dining room.  We provide a unique experience whether it's a first date, special occasion, a corporate meeting, or a night out on the town!  We look forward to meeting you soon!

The Benihana Monterey Experience

At the heart of the Benihana experience is the teppanyaki table, around which you gather and enjoy a meal expertly prepared and cooked to perfection on a steel grill, right before your eyes — by a chef who is as much entertainer as culinary master. 

The meal begins with a delicate Japanese onion soup which is prepared daily by our staff over the course of 6 hours.  This is followed by a salad with our famous ginger dressing which is made from scratch by our chefs.  The chef will prepare your chicken, beef or seafood, along with vegetables, hibachi-style on the sizzling grill surface.  Be sure to enjoy the show, because Benihana chefs literally entertain you with your food as they cook it!

Your entree will be served with 2 delicious homemade dipping sauces and steamed rice, or if you prefer, Benihana's mouthwatering Hibachi Chicken Rice.  You can also order tempura, nigiri sushi, and specialty sushi rolls all at your table!

Our Sushi Lounge provides freshly made nigiri sushi and delicious rolls expertly crafted by our locally famous sushi chefs.  The atmosphere is relaxing and overlooks Fisherman's Wharf and Custom House Plaza.  We also have outdoor seating to enjoy a nice meal in the Monterey breeze.
